Tree Trimming and Pruning Tools

Tree Trimming New Smyrna Beach
Property owners are reminded constantly that risky tree maintenance jobs such as trimming or pruning are best done by tree companies. As much as possible, you must never DIY such tasks as they can get very dangerous. In addition, some trees are too large and reaching to some of its parts can be extra difficult without a crane and safety gear. Nevertheless, there are smaller trees and shrubs that you can work on in case you insist to DIY.

One of the reasons it’s best to work with tree companies is because they’re already equipped with the tools needed for tree maintenance. People who don’t usually work around the garden may find it unnecessary to buy their own. While some of the tools come cheap, most would cost you a bit. It is impractical to buy your own set especially since tree trimming and pruning are not things one would usually do every day or even every month.

But if you want to start your own gardening hobby and you’re wondering what are the common tools needed, here are some of them:

1. Electric Chainsaw

A high-powered electric chainsaw is necessary for trimming large trees with large branches. This is when your manual chainsaw simply won’t work or would take a lot of effort to use. These are dangerous to use as they can cause serious injury when handled improperly. It is recommended for one to wear safety gear when using an electric chainsaw.

2. Hedge Shears

These look like extra-large scissors that are commonly used to cut grass and shrubs. You may need this when trimming or pruning smaller branches, leaves, and other overgrown tree parts.

3. Pruners or Pruning Shears

A pruner is a smaller tool that can help you precisely cut through twigs and stems. They’re small enough to be held by just one hand. They are still quite strong though as they can usually cut hard branches up to 2cm thick.

4. Pruning Saws

These are handheld saws that are way smaller than an electric chainsaw. They are also used manually the way you would use a traditional saw.

5. Loppers

A lopper is a longer version of pruners. They function the same way, but they’re easier to use when you’re trying to cut through harder to reach areas.

6. Pole Pruner

Pole pruners are long tools with pruners attached to its end. Its length also makes it easier to cut harder to reach areas.

Once again, it is best to work with a tree company so that you won’t have to buy all of these or risk your safety for tree maintenance. When in New Smyrna Beach, New Smyrna Tree Service is the best company to help you out with your tree trimming, tree pruning, and other tree care needs. Call us at 386-267-8027 for a free estimate.

Cut method begins by making a cut on the underneath side of the branch. Further out on the limb than where you want the final cut to be.
