The Maple tree , like the palm tree, belongs to the Aceraceae family of plants. There are 128 known species of maples but 54 of which are considered endangered because of the danger of habitat loss. There are fossils that evidenced the existence of maples on earth for over 100 million years but some of its species have vanished at the time of the ice age. Maple trees are continuously being cultivated for maple syrup production and the use of its wood in various commercial applications.

  • In the producton of maple syrup, one of the key factors that must be considered  is the weather
  • A maple tree must be at least 30 years old for their sap to be tapped. A single 40-year-old maple tree can produce 10 gallons of sap and 30-50 gallons of sap can produce 1 gallon of maple syrup.
  • Maple trees are in no way harmed when their sap is tapped because only about 10% of their total tree sap production is actually harvested.
  • Some bowling pins, baseball bats and furniture are made out of maple wood.

Aside from these, here are a few fun facts about pine trees that you may find interesting.

  • There are over 100 species of pine trees known worldwide.
  • Pine trees generally have a long lifespan. Some can live to thousands of years when grown under favorable conditions. Bristlecone pine trees are said to live for over 4,800 years.
  • Most species of pine tree can grow from 15 to 45 meters tall but other varieties can reach up to 80 meters and also be as small as 3 meters.
  • Pine trees don’t need a lot of water to survive but require a lot of sunlight.

  • Pine trees are monoecious plants. Monocecious  plants are plants that produce male and female cones.
  • The production of pine cones is the pine tree’s way of propagation of its species. When animals like squirrels eat pine seeds from pine cones, some of the seed leftovers are spread throughout which eventually leads to growth of new pine trees.

Palm tree removal in New Smyrna Beach is often required for a number of reasons. Palm trees are one of the most beautiful trees, and clearly a staple that represents the great state of Florida. Despite this, palm trees sometimes become damaged or can be a threat to your home, building, or carport. When this happens, palm tree removal might be necessary, even though none of us like to take down these beautiful trees that represent our beach side paradise in New Smyrna Beach.

When palm tree removal becomes necessary, there are a few things but you need to keep in mind. First of all, if you are not sure whether or not your palm tree is a potential threat to your home during one of our nasty storms, it is best to consult an expert to find out whether or not you have a serious threat. A tree professional can analyze your palm tree and determine the health of the tree, which many times will determine whether or not the palm tree is likely to fall or give way during high winds that can be generated by one of our lovely hurricanes that we all know too well. So you'll want to determine this threat before you head to your neighborhood's local hurricane party!

If it is determined that you do need palm tree removal it is always best to hire a professional company to make sure that the job is done right, and you do not create any unnecessary hazards for yourself or your family. Many people attempt palm tree removal on their own, and usually end up realizing they should have hired a local pro. It is just not worth the money you save to put life and limb at rest. And without the proper equipment the removal of a large tree is always a daunting task. There are plenty of videos on YouTube that illustrate this point, unfortunately.

If you need advice on tree removal, or are wondering whether or not your palm tree is healthy or hurting, call New Smyrna Tree Service today 386-267-8027 and we will be glad to give you a free and fair consultation to help with your decision. We are your local tree removal company I can handle any project, large or small.
